Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Spendjot Ltd for using Purlock. We've kept it as plain as we can. Sections 4 and 11 matter most, so please read those in particular.
Last updated 29 October 2026
The short version
Findings are help, not verdicts
Purlock reads your pages automatically. It can be wrong, it never decides which of two values is right, and it isn't legal advice.
Read only, always
PurlockBot reads public pages. It never logs in, fills in forms or changes anything on a website.
Cancel any time
Paid plans renew until you cancel, and new subscriptions come with a 14 day money back guarantee.
Plain English, UK law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and don't affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
01Who we are
Purlock (purlock.com) is a trading name of Spendjot Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 16431337. Our registered office is 86-90 Paul Street, London, England, EC2A 4NE. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Spendjot Ltd.
These terms apply to the website, the free scan, the free tools, shared result pages, your account and any paid plan. By using Purlock you agree to them, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Purlock.
If you use Purlock for a business, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for that business. You must be at least 16 years old to use Purlock.
02What Purlock does
- Scans. PurlockBot reads up to 20 public pages of a website on a free scan (more on paid plans) and checks them for expired offers, contradictions, placeholder text, unverified claims, broken links and missing pages.
- AI analysis. We use AI to pull out facts such as prices, trial lengths and refund windows. Every AI finding must quote your page word for word, or we discard it.
- Fix prompts. Each finding comes with suggested wording for an AI coding tool, steps for a page editor and a note for a teammate.
- Your account. Signed in, your scans are kept on your dashboard. Paid plans add features such as a Fact Sheet, regular scans and alerts as they become available.
03Free scans and limits
The free scan needs no account. To keep it fair and to stop automated abuse, scans are limited per day, per website and overall, and the limits may change. If a website was scanned recently, we may show you that recent result instead of scanning again.
Each scan has a share link. Anyone with the link can see the score and the titles of the findings. The full details (quotes, pages and fixes) are only shown to whoever ran the scan, or to the account it belongs to.
04Important limits on results
- Findings are automated. They come from rules and AI, and can be wrong or incomplete. A finding is a prompt to check something, not a statement that your website is wrong. A clean result doesn't mean your website has no problems.
- We never decide which value is right. When two pages disagree, we show both sides. You decide which is correct.
- Not legal advice. Findings about privacy policies, terms, refund pages or company details are general pointers. They aren't legal advice, and you should take professional advice where it matters.
- Review fixes before you use them. Fix prompts and suggested wording are generated automatically. Read them before you paste them into a tool or publish a change. You're responsible for the changes you make to your website.
- Results are a snapshot. They show what your public pages said when we read them. Pages that need a login or are built entirely in the browser may not be read fully.
05Scanning websites
Anyone can run a free scan of a public website, the same way anyone can visit it. PurlockBot only reads public pages, respects robots.txt, follows a small number of links and stops after strict time and size limits. It never logs in, submits forms, makes purchases or writes anything to a website. How it behaves, and how to block it, is explained on the PurlockBot page.
Ongoing monitoring, checks of private preview links and any feature that connects to your website or code are only available after you verify that you own or manage the website.
If you own a website someone else scanned and you want those results removed, email us at support@spendjot.app.
06Fair use
Please don't:
- use bots, scripts or many accounts to run scans in bulk, or try to get around our limits or bot checks;
- use Purlock to overload, probe, attack or test the security of any website, including ours;
- scrape, copy or resell our results or reports as a dataset, or use Purlock to build a competing product;
- use shared results to harass, defame or mislead anyone about a website or its owner;
- break the law, or anyone else's rights, while using Purlock.
We may slow down, pause or block activity that puts Purlock, the websites we read or our providers at risk.
07Accounts
You can sign in with Google, with GitHub or with a one time link sent to your email. There are no passwords. Keep access to that email or account secure, because anyone who controls it can sign in as you. Tell us at support@spendjot.app if you think your account has been misused.
You can ask us to delete your account at any time. How we handle your data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
08Paid plans and billing
- Prices. Plans and prices are shown on the pricing page before you buy. Prices are in US dollars. Any tax that applies is shown at checkout.
- Payment. Payments are taken by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- Renewal. Monthly plans renew every month and annual plans every year, on the same date, until you cancel. We charge the card on file at each renewal.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your billing settings or by emailing us. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and then won't renew.
- Refunds. New subscriptions come with a 14 day money back guarantee. The details are in our Refund Policy.
- Price changes. If we change the price of your plan, we'll tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal. You can cancel before the new price applies.
- Plan limits. Each plan has limits, such as the number of websites, pages and checks. If a feature isn't available yet, we'll say so on the pricing page.
09Your content and reports
You keep ownership of anything you give us, such as text you paste to check and facts you confirm. You allow us to use it only to run and improve Purlock, including sending page text to our AI provider as described in the Privacy Policy.
Scan reports describe what we found on public pages. You may use your reports and fix prompts freely, including sharing them with your team or clients. We may use anonymous, combined statistics (for example, how often expired offers appear) to improve Purlock and to describe it publicly, without naming any website or person.
10Our service and brand
The Purlock software, checks, design, reports and brand belong to Spendjot Ltd. Please don't copy, scrape, reverse engineer or resell them. We may change, improve, pause or stop features. Where a change significantly affects a paid plan, we'll give you reasonable notice, and if we stop a paid feature you rely on, you can cancel and we'll refund any period you've paid for but can't use.
11Disclaimers and our liability
We work hard to keep Purlock accurate and available, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error free, or that it will find every problem on your website.
If you use Purlock as a consumer
We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We aren't responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable, for business losses, or for changes you make to your website based on a finding.
If you use Purlock for a business
We aren't liable for loss of profits, revenue, sales, business, goodwill or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability for all claims in any 12 months is limited to the greater of £100 and the amount you paid us in those 12 months.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, nothing here affects your statutory rights.
12Suspension and ending
You can stop using Purlock at any time, and cancel any paid plan as described in section 8. We may suspend or close access for anyone who breaks these terms. Where it's reasonable, we'll explain why first and give you a chance to put things right. If we close a paid account without good reason, we'll refund the unused part of your current period.
Sections 4, 9, 11 and 14 keep applying after you stop using Purlock.
13Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Purlock changes, and we'll update the date at the top of this page. For material changes, we'll give account holders at least 14 days' notice by email or in the app. If you keep using Purlock after the changes take effect, the new terms apply.
14General
These terms and the policies linked from them are the whole agreement between us about Purlock. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. We may transfer our rights under these terms to another business if Purlock is sold, as long as your rights aren't reduced. Nobody else has rights under these terms.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Scotland, Northern Ireland or the EU, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts and rely on the mandatory consumer protections where you live.
